At The Wellnest, I believe in empowering others to believe in their own capabilities and worth.
My aim is to help you gain a better understanding of why, and where, your symptoms developed from and to collaboratively develop a tailored and personalised therapy plan to cover your specific needs and wants. The aim of CBT is to supply you with a "tool kit" that you will be able to refer to and use throughout the rest of your life
I have a total of ten years experience of working with individuals suffering with mental health issues, helping children, teens, families and adults with a variety of complexities, ranging from common mental health issues to those struggling with addiction or with more complex presentations such as psychosis.
At present I offer CBT to those suffering with stress, low self esteem, any type of anxiety, panic disorder, trauma, PTSD, depression, low mood, phobias, OCD, insomnia and perfectionism. I provide the above service to all, including individuals with neurodiversity.
Disclaimer: despite having experience in more complex cases, at present I do not offer treatment to those with personality disorders or more complex presentations.

Lauren was absolutely amazing. Each session was focused and had a clear structure which enabled me to set aims and achieve those goals. My mental health has improved significantly as I was taught strategies to apply daily and which really do work.
Lauren was amazing. She was so easy to talk to and gave me the confidence to push myself. She made me feel accountable for my own progress which really encouraged me to do all the agreed activities and push myself to get back to my old self as quickly as possible. I can’t thank her enough and only have positive things to say about her.
Thanks Lauren! I can honestly say that I could not, and would not have done it without your help, guidance and encouragement. You've been fantastic and I've really enjoying our sessions. For once I'm excited about the future to see how much better I can get so I can't thank you enough for that.
Thank you again for all you have done again, it comes from the bottom of my heart. All the best and thank you again for helping me enjoy life again!
Thank you so much again for all your support, patience and kindness during CBT. You really have felt more like a friend than therapist over the months!

When seeing your therapist it is also important to inform them if you are feeling this way.
How long does each therapy session take?
Each session between 50-60 minutes. However for some disorders or specific sessions we may need up to an hour and a half.
Who is CBT for?
CBT can be beneficial for a wide range of individuals with a wide range of issues. Sometimes people may seek help as they feel that something just feels "off" or they're not their usual selves. Other times they come with a diagnosis from a professional with advice to have CBT treatment. It may feel like there isn't a specific diagnosis that fits what you are experiencing, but that is also okay. We can work together to find a treatment plan that is specific and tailored to you.
Below is a list of common difficulties that CBT may help with:
Depression
Health Anxiety
Social Anxiety
Generalised Anxiety (GAD)
Specific Phobias
Low Self-esteem
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Panic Disorder
Insomnia
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Trauma or issues with Childhood
Domestic Abuse Recovery
Recovering from Addiction
How many sessions will I need?
Every individual has their specific difficulties and needs and therefore require a varying number of sessions depending on the severity of their symptoms and how much commitment is made outside of sessions. However, as per the NICE Guidelines it is generally recommended to have between 12 to 20 sessions.
What happens during therapy?
The first few sessions will be centred around having a detailed discussion and assessment of your specific difficulties. During the assessment you will be required to complete questionnaires that will help better assess your symptoms. These questionnaires will be repeated throughout the therapy to ensure that we are targeting your specific needs and to track progress. This is in accordance with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) to ensure evidence-based treatment and is an important part of the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) process.
It is important that we are thorough and work collaboratively throughout the assessment process as this will be used to create a specific treatment plan that is tailored to you and will guide the therapy accordingly. It is also important to provide some goals for therapy so that these can be factored into the treatment plan and to ensure I am helping you to achieve your desired outcomes.
With the treatment plan and goals in mind, we will set an agenda at the start of each of our sessions to ensure that we are completing necessary steps and manage our time together effectively. You are encouraged to bring specific subjects to our sessions to discuss and utilise in demonstrating the CBT strategies.
CBT is very action-plan focused and therefore take-away tasks and actions will be set at the end of each session. These will be agreed together and will correspond with the discussion had during the session. Progress in therapy is heavily weighted on the completion of actions outside of sessions and is a vital part of CBT and therefore it is important that you complete the homework tasks.
When we are both in agreement that you are managing your symptoms effectively, are working towards your goals and utilising the tools consistently we will begin to discuss therapy coming to an end. During the last stages of therapy, we will create a “relapse prevention plan” which, is a tailored plan to support the maintenance of your recovery and provide strategies on how to deal with any setbacks once therapy has come to an end.
Why is CBT more expensive than other therapies?
The NHS website quotes that the cost of CBT sessions range from £60 - £100. However, some CBT therapists have been known to charge up to £150 depending on your area. This cost is due to the level of training required to become a fully qualified and accredited CBT therapist. It is required that therapist have postgraduate level training as well as a wealth of previous professional experience to be eligible to apply for accreditation with the BABCP.
Therapists also maintain ongoing training as per the BABCP requirements, as well as the cost of supervision to ensure continued professional standards of treatment. I myself, have completed a total of seven years of higher education and training to train for my role.
It may also interest you to know that whilst sessions are 50-60 minutes your therapist will be working on your behalf outside of these sessions in preparation to ensure your treatment is of the highest quality.
Also, although it may seem expensive it probably adds up to less than the average holiday and there is no price tag to be placed on the possibility of changing your life forever.
How may I pay for sessions?
Payment for sessions is taken in advance at the time of booking by either cash or bank transfer. If you are paying in cash there is a cash machine (free to use) at the small Tesco that is within walking distance of the office.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes, cancellations should be made at least 24 hours before session. If you cancel the session within the 24 hours period you will need to pay for that session in full and therefore you will not receive a refund.
Does your clinic have disabled access?
My office is on the second floor of a building that has no lift facilities. Therefore it should be taken into consideration on booking your appointment as you will have to climb a flight of stairs to get to my office.
Does your office have parking facilities?
Yes, there is free parking in numerous locations, either on the road in front of the building, or the turning directly across from the building takes you to a small car park which is also free. You may also park on the side road beside and across from the building.
